![]() Sh - Send the file to the sh command, which executes it if it’s a bash script. ![]() Wipe and overwrite free disk space to securely delete file remnants. | - Pipe (send) the output of the wget command (the file you downloaded) directly to another command. Ashampoo WinOptimizer 25 comes with a double boost: It boosts itself and your PC. (You may also see curl in place of wget.) This can be dangerous if you’re not sure what the script is or if you don’t trust its source - don’t run untrusted scripts. The above line downloads a script from the web and sends it to sh,which executes the contents of the script. wget -O – | sh - Downloads and Runs a Script The Lesson: The ~ character represents your home folder and moving things to /dev/null destroys them. dev/null - Move your home folder to /dev/null, destroying all your files and deleting the original copies. Mv - Move the following file or directory to another location. Essentially, mv ~ /dev/null sends all your personal files into a black hole. dev/null is another special location - moving something to /dev/null is the same thing as destroying it. Taken together, this command can be equivalent to running format c: on Windows - it will wipe the files on your first partition and replace them with a new file system. dev/sda1 - Specifies the first partition on the first hard drive, which is probably in use. Mkfs.ext4 - Create a new ext4 file system on the following device. The mkfs.ext4 /dev/sda1 command is simple to understand: Image Credit: Dake on Wikimedia Commons mkfs.ext4 /dev/sda1 - Formats a Hard Drive The Lesson: Bash functions are powerful, even very short ones. It’s basically a denial-of-service attack. The process continually replicates itself, and its copies continually replicate themselves, quickly taking up all your CPU time and memory. ![]() This short line defines a shell function that creates new copies of itself. The following line is a simple-looking, but dangerous, bash function: You need to play to your advantage, use hand disruption spells, targeted land removal, and effective creature removal until you wear out their resources so you can drop your fatties and close out the game. The Lesson: Don’t run weird-looking, obviously disguised commands that you don’t understand. You can't keep up creature-wise with green decks like this either. If you're facing blue, just dropping fatty after fatty one a turn, you're going to get rolled over and run out of resources far faster than they do. More control spells and value creatures, less beaters because: You really only need a select elite of beatsticks to close out the game. Lightning Bolt kills a vast majority of these things for a simple R mana, at instant speed. Lightning Bolt because mana dorks and cheap, effective, but small creatures get played a LOT more in Duel Commander. I guess I have to give reasoning or else I'll be downvoted for literally no reason. I also think if you're really trying to make an effective (re: more competitive) duel commander deck, you may want to cut some of your creatures and add in some more mardu control-esque spells. I'm unsure if 36 lands is enough to keep it consistent, but I'm leaning towards saying you need to up the land count. Take out Surveyor's Scope, it's not fantastic in duel.
